Your Mom Plays Warcraft!

Actually, mine does.  She loves it.  She talks about it with my friends, and my friends make fun of me when I’m not online.

About 18 months ago, my mother injured her back and her doctor ordered her to sit down for long periods of time.  We thought about it a bit, and my old man and I decided the best way to get her to stay in one place was to get her a laptop and a Warcraft account.  It was a blinding success.

Now, for half the day, my mother is Nadeen, the undead rogue.  She’s pushed her character up to level 70 and only occasionally begs me for money.  Lately, I’ve had her join our guild (basically a Warcraft club), and she’s taken quite well to the people there.  Now they all think it’s a riot that my mother will contend that I am gay until I produce for her a grandchild.  They remind me about it more than she does.

The truth is, she’s having a great time and she’s pretty good at the game.  Also, it’s the main way we interact these days, as I now live about 100 miles from my folks’ old home.  If ever you want to meet her, she’s Nadeen on the US-Gilneas PvE server, member of the guild Misguided Judgment.  Cheers.
